Kids bike size guide

Wheel size is based on child height, not age alone. A tall 6-year-old may need bigger wheels than a shorter peer.

Why a kids bike matters

Cycling builds balance, coordination and self-confidence. Every short ride in the park or on an easy trail builds a habit of movement and connects family with nature.

A proper fit means control: your child touches the ground with their feet, brakes safely and enjoys riding instead of fighting an oversized bike.

At BIKEVERSE you will find kids bikes built for MTB and adventure: stable geometry, adapted components and designs children love.

How to choose correctly

Do not buy too big

A bike bought to last longer can be unsafe. Your child should touch the ground with their toes on the saddle.

Balance bike vs pedals

Between ages 2 and 4, a balance bike helps with equilibrium. Then move to 12" or 14" with pedals.

Safety first

A proper helmet, gloves and knee pads make a difference. Check brakes and tyre pressure before every ride.

MTB for kids

For trails and parks, choose a bike with disc brakes and grippy tyres. Your child learns proper technique from the start.

Frequently asked questions

What bike size for a 140 cm child?

At around 140 cm height, we generally recommend 24 inch wheels. Check that your child touches the ground on the saddle and adjust if they are between two sizes.

How do I convert 1.40 to centimetres?

1.40 m means 140 cm. You can enter 140, 140cm, 1m40 or 1.40 in our size guide.

Bike for a 6-year-old: what size?

Age alone is not enough. A 6-year-old can be between 110 and 120 cm tall. At ~116 cm, 20 inch wheels are usually a good fit.

Balance bike or pedal bike?

A balance bike (no pedals) is ideal between ages 2 and 4 for balance. Once your child rides confidently, move to 12" or 14" with pedals.

Do you have electric bikes for kids?

Yes, our shop includes e-bikes for children with age-appropriate range and power. Filter the kids category and check motor specs on the product page.

Delivery and setup

Order online and receive the bike at home. For fine adjustments (saddle, handlebar), a local bike shop can help.
